He Saw Your Face
Sunday Word
Beloved family and friends, Today I want to speak straight from my heart to yours. In a world that keeps telling us we are forgotten, overlooked, or too far gone, there is One who has never taken His eyes off you. His name is Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He is the Word made flesh, the Creator who stepped into His own creation out of a love that will not let go. He is the Good Shepherd who knows your name, the Friend who sticks closer than a brother, the Healer of every broken place, and the King of kings. He is holy, yet He draws near to the weary. He is powerful, yet gentle with the wounded. He sees every hidden tear, every quiet battle, and every prayer you shouted boldly, and those thought and never spoke out loud.
And because of who He is, look at what He has already done—just for you.
On that cruel cross, Jesus didn’t just suffer for a crowd. He suffered for you. While the nails were driven in, while the weight of every sin pressed down on Him, He looked across the centuries and saw your face. Not a blur. Not a stranger. Your face. He knew your name. He knew every failure you would ever carry, every shame you would try to hide, every wound that still aches. And still He stayed.
The Bible says He became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). He paid the debt you could never pay. With His final breath He declared, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). The price was paid in full. The veil was torn. Access to the Father was opened forever—because He saw your face and chose you.
Three days later He rose from the grave—victorious over death, hell, and the grave. Because He lives, you can live. Because He conquered, you are more than a conqueror.
There was this morning not all that long ago when this truth finally broke through to me. I was sitting alone in my truck, windows rolled up, just staring at the steering wheel. I felt like a complete failure—like the things I had done and the things done to me had made me invisible to God. I felt like my prayers weren't heard, and felt unloved. I felt like it was a one-way relationship, since it felt like I'm the one talking, and I am the one asking.. Where are you, God?! I whispered out loud, “Lord, do You even see me?”
In that quiet moment, it was as if the Holy Spirit gently answered, “I saw your face on the cross.” Not in anger. Not in disappointment. Just in love. Suddenly I realized Jesus hadn’t died for some cleaned-up future version of me. He had already looked at the real me—mess and all—and still chose the nails. That night something shifted. I stopped trying to hide and simply let myself be known by the One who already knew everything.
My friends, this is not distant history. This is personal. The same eyes that looked at your face from the cross are looking at you right now. He is not waiting for a better version of you. He is not surprised by anything He already saw. He simply invites you to come close—just as you are—and let the One who knows you fully love you completely.
Will you meet His gaze today?
Will you let the One who saw your face on the cross become the Lord of your life?
Let’s pray together: Lord Jesus, thank You. Thank You for who You are—the Savior, the Redeemer, the risen King. Thank You that when You hung on that cross You saw my face. You knew me. You chose me. I confess I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. Today I turn from my old ways and I call on Your name. I believe You died for me and rose again. I open my heart. I receive the love and the life You purchased for me with Your own blood. Come into my life. Forgive me. Make me Yours. From this day forward I belong to You. In Your mighty name, Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer and meant it, welcome home. Heaven is rejoicing over you right now. You are no longer a stranger—you are a child of God.
If this message touched your heart, share it with someone who needs to know they were seen. You are known. You are loved. You were never a stranger to the cross. And in Jesus, you are home.
With love and faith,
