Faith over Fear

Good morning friends and family, brothers and sisters in Christ, let's spend a few minutes--set aside from your busy day and I invite you to look at this..

In a world filled with uncertainties—economic shakes, health concerns, global tensions, and personal trials, NOT ANOTHER SNOW STORM!—it's easy to let fear creep in. But as believers, we are called to a higher standard. The Bible makes it clear: we cannot have both faith and fear dominating our hearts. It's always one or the other. They cannot coexist peacefully; one must give way to the other.

Imagine a see-saw on a playground or a balance scale in a courtroom.

On one side sits fear—heavy with doubt, worry, and unbelief.

On the other side is faith—rooted in God's promises, light yet powerful.

When fear weighs down one end, faith is lifted out of reach. But when we pile on the weight of faith through prayer, Scripture, and trust in the Lord, fear is forced upward and off the scale entirely. The balance tips decisively. Scripture shows us clearly that faith and fear are in constant opposition, and only one can rule your life at a time.

• Mark 4:40 (also paralleled in Matthew 8:26 and Luke 8:25): After calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee, while the disciples were terrified, Jesus said to them: "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" (Mark 4:40, NKJV)

• Or in Matthew's account: "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" (Matthew 8:26) This is Jesus directly calling out fear as incompatible with faith. The disciples had faith enough to follow Him, but in the crisis, fear dominated—and Jesus gently but firmly points out that true faith should have trusted Him even in the chaos.

It's a vivid reminder: fear rises when faith is weak or sidelined.

• Mark 5:36 (parallels in other Gospels): When Jairus was told his daughter had died, and fear/grief overwhelmed him, Jesus immediately said: "Do not be afraid; only believe." (or "Do not fear, only have faith/believe") Here, Jesus presents it as a clear either/or: Stop the fear—choose belief/faith instead.

• Other scripture references fear not" moments from Jesus:

◦ Matthew 10:31 / Luke 12:7: "Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." (In context of persecution and trials.)

◦ John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you... Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

◦ Luke 12:32: "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

The Bible specifically shows us as His children, to Fear Not.

In the King James Version:

• The exact two-word phrase "fear not" appears 71–74 times

• Including close variations like "be not afraid" (around 29 times), "fear thou not", etc., the total for direct "fear not"-style commands rises to roughly 100–110 times.

Let's turn to God's Word for guidance. These verses, drawn from teachings on overcoming adversity show us how to choose faith every time:

• 2 Timothy 1:7 – "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Fear is not from God; it's a tool of the enemy. When fear knocks, let faith answer the door with power, love, and clarity.

• 1 Timothy 6:12 – "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called..." This is a call to action. Faith isn't passive; it's a battle where we actively resist fear by holding onto God's eternal promises.

• Hebrews 11:1 – "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith gives weight to the invisible—God's faithfulness—while fear fixates on visible threats. Tip the scale by focusing on what God says, not what circumstances scream.

• Joshua 1:9 – "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Just as Joshua faced giants and unknowns, we too must choose courage (faith's companion) over dismay (fear's ally).

• Isaiah 41:10 – "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." God's presence is the ultimate counterweight to fear. When we lean on Him, fear has no footing.

Regardless of how much the weight of the world situations appear like we live in F.E.A.R, False Evidence Appearing Real (as stated by Julie Green) we're reminded that attacks meant to bring fear, confusion, and unrest are opportunities to rise in faith. Fear is an illusion to get your Faith to tip on satan's side of the scale; he comes to seek, steal and destroy. He's pretty slick and can get you to believe that false evidence, but you have eyes to see, and ear's to hear. You have the Greater One who lives on the inside of you, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah who roars from your lungs.

This message is for those who need to be lifted with God's Truth, to filter through the weeds, and the lies of deception, to know what authority that you already have. Empowering Saints, which builds on one of the pillar's of JR Tyndale Ministries emphasizing God's Word over worldly noise, choosing faith over fear means believing God despite the storm, fighting with spiritual weapons, and refusing to let unbelief tip the balance. You are a child of the Most High God, and you do have the power of Jesus who lives on the inside of you.

Picture this: You're facing a financial crisis—bills piling up, job uncertainty looming. Fear says, "You're doomed; panic now." It weighs heavy, pulling you down into anxiety. But faith responds, "My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). As you pray, declare Scripture, and trust, faith gains momentum. The see-saw shifts—fear lifts, and peace descends.

Or consider health challenges. Fear whispers worst-case scenarios, but faith declares, "By His stripes, I am healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Healing is already yours, satan is trying to steal it away from you. You don’t get re-healed. It was already bought and Paid for on the Cross.

One side rises as the other falls. They can't both remain equal. Choose to load up on faith through personal daily devotion, in small groups with friends, in community such as your church family, through meaningful conversations, All in obedience to God's voice. All God wants is a personal relationship with you. He wants to meet you right where you are. He's not looking for you to be perfect, He sees you perfect in His own eyes. You are a unique creation, and He loves you, just the way you are. Turn to Him, because He's waiting for you with open arms to receive you.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of faith that overcomes the world. Help us to tip the scales in favor of Trust in You, casting out all fear. Strengthen our hearts to fight the good fight, choosing faith over fear every day, in every situation.

We thank You for the gift of faith that overcomes the world. Thank You that Your Word is ALIVE and powerful, and that every promise You have spoken will not return to You void. As You have declared in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Just like that "Light Be" and light still is..

Lord Jesus, just as You spoke peace to the fearful and said, “Do not be afraid; only believe”, help us hear Your voice today saying, “Trust Me.”

We choose to trust You with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. When fear tries to rise, remind us to put our trust in You instead of turning the the world, or to AI or worldly advice for answers, but we look to You and You only.

Strengthen our faith to walk by faith and not by sight. Cast out every spirit of fear. Replace anxiety with Your perfect peace that guards our hearts and minds. Uphold us with Your righteous right hand, for You have promised, “Fear not, for I am with you”

We stand on Your unchanging Word, believing that what You have spoken will come to pass. Fill us with BOLD faith and unwavering trust in You today and every day.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Trust Him today. Live your life He has breathed into you, live it out with complete Faith over fear.

God bless you abundantly,

Dedicated to transforming lives through God’s love, His Word, and hope in a relationship with Him.
