Learn of Him

Matthew 11:29 ESV

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28 ESV

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Rest is not only a nap at the end of a long week. Jesus ties it to learning from Him. His yoke is not a second job piled on the one you already have. It is walking beside Him at His pace, gentle and lowly in heart. A lot of the weight you feel is the pace you set when you forgot He was beside you. He does not shame you for being tired. He invites you. If you are laboring under more than this day was meant to hold, you can come to Him before you come to the list. Rest for the soul starts there.

1
Come before the list

Sit for a few quiet minutes with Matthew 11:28-29 before you open the tasks.

2
Drop one extra

Name one thing you picked up that He did not ask you to carry today, and leave it.

Jesus, I come to You tired, and I come before I pretend I am not. I take Your yoke. Teach me Your pace. You are gentle and lowly in heart, and I have been neither with myself. Give rest to my soul, not just a slower morning. Show me what I added that You never assigned. I trust Your invitation more than my urgency. Meet me here, and walk with me through what actually belongs to this day. “You will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 ESV
