Cast Your Care

1 Peter 5:7 ESV

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Psalm 55:22 ESV

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Some cares do not knock. They sit down with you and stay. A bill, a name you cannot stop turning over, a fear that tomorrow will look like the hardest part of yesterday. You were not asked to hold all of that in your own hands. Peter says to cast it on Him, and the reason is simple: He cares for you. Not for the polished version of you. For you. The Lord does not sustain people who have already figured it out. He sustains the one who hands Him the weight. Jesus already carried the heaviest burden to the cross, so the lesser ones are not too much for Him either. If a care has been living in your chest, you can set it down with Him today. He is willing to take it.

1
Name the weight

Write the one care you keep picking back up, then pray 1 Peter 5:7 over it by name.

2
Leave it with Him

Tell one trusted person, or the Lord out loud, that you are not carrying this alone today.

Lord, You see the care I keep taking back. I am tired of holding it like it is mine to solve. I cast it on You now, not because I am strong, but because You care for me. Sustain me where I feel unsteady. Quiet the fear that says I will be moved if I let go. Teach me to trust what Jesus has already done, and to walk lighter because the weight is in Your hands. When I reach for it again, remind me whose hands it belongs in. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you.” Psalm 55:22 ESV
